This week Crime Stoppers needs your help solving an animal cruelty case.
On Friday, April 8th, 2016, at approximately 8:30pm, a Beaumont Animal Services Officer responded to a call concerning a dog in one of their traps located at 1705 Walton St. in Beaumont’s north end. The officer found a blue, adult, male pit bull dog, about 2-4 years old and in poor body condition. The dog had a severely embedded collar with a deep gash all the way around its neck about 2 inches wide and 3 inches deep, with the collar still lodged in the wound.
The officer immediately took the dog to the emergency vet. The collar was removed and the wound stitched up. The surgical procedure took about three hours due to difficulty in removing the deep scar tissue.
The dog is currently recovering at the Beaumont Animal Shelter and is healing nicely. Officers need the public’s help in determining who this dog belongs to and where it came from.
Anyone with information about the dog, the owner, or where it lived, can contact Southeast Texas Crime Stoppers at 409-833-TIPS.Solve this Crime
