Each week Crimestoppers asks the public to help with unsolved cases or to help locate wanted fugitives.
During the holiday season we will be asking for help with cases that are sometimes called “cold” cases. CrimeStoppers would love to give closure to the victim’s families for Christmas.
#1 This week- Crime Stoppers needs your help solving the murder of Dominque Reed.
On Thursday,April 3, 2014 at 4:37 a.m. 23 year old Dominique Reed was driving north bound on 11th St. in a silver Chevy Malibu with a female passenger. A white or Hispanic man in an older model Dodge pickup, possibly 2 door and dark in color, slowly entered their lane of travel and struck the vehicle they were in. Dominque turned on Laurel St. and the man in the truck turned around and stopped near them. Dominique got in the passenger seat to look for her insurance card in the glove compartment. The man walked back to his truck, opened the driver’s side door and got a rifle. He walked to the passenger side of the Malibu and shot Dominique in the head. The friend took off running and the man with the rifle followed after her in his truck. She was able to flag down a passerby in a Chevy Trailblazer. The passerby stopped and the man with the rifle shot him in the left shoulder.
Dominque was dead when officers arrived on scene. The passerby was transported to the hospital and survived the gunshot wound.
If you have any information that would help bring closure to Dominique’s family for Christmas, contact Crime Stoppers at 409-833-TIPS.
